The Office of Safety and Security works closely with the Saint Paul Police Department to keep students and schools safe through the School Resource Officer (SRO) program.

This partnership allows 17 of our schools to work closely with 12 licensed law enforcement officers on a daily basis.

School resource officers (SROs) play an important role in helping students develop as well as keeping buildings safe and investigating the occasional complaint.

SROs often mentor students, counsel students and act as mediators when disagreements arise. They are also very active in training teachers and staff to identify and deal with emerging safety issues.

The Saint Paul School District currently has twelve Saint Paul Police Officers working in its’ buildings as School Resource Officers (SROs).

These officers receive special training and are members of the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO). We have invited our SROs to write articles for our website. Please check back soon for the first article.
