The Office of Safety and Security is dedicated to providing safe, secure learning environments in which students learn.
While safety is our top priority, we also work hard to ensure that our schools and programs are welcoming and friendly.
OUR STAFF
William Waterkamp
is the Safety and Security Administrator for the Saint Paul Public Schools. Will is a former Saint Paul Police Officer, a nationally recognized expert on school safety, and a father of two Saint Paul Public Schools graduates.
Yanchy Lacska
is the Emergency Preparedness Coordinator. He is a licensed psychologist and has completed FEMA training for school emergency managers and an internationally known school safety expert. Yanchy works closely with schools, the City of Saint Paul, Ramsey County and MN Homeland Security and Emergency Management to ensure that Saint Paul Public Schools is always ready, to the highest degree possible, for any emergency.
Laurie Olson
is the School Safety Specialist. She is a 16 year veteran of the Saint Paul Public Schools. Laurie has completed training with FEMA and the Minnesota Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. She works closely with the schools and administration on school safety & security issues. She conducts school safety assessments and helps schools develop and update their emergency/safety plans.
Saint Paul Public Schools employs
security guards
who welcome students, staff and visitors to our schools and monitor building security.
